Future Of Energy In Europe
Energy plays a vital role in our day to day lives. Starting from cooking food to preserving them, from having warm water to washing our clothes and drying them, we need energy. All the electronic appliances, or to be precise, machines work on energy. But to make those machines work, we burn a whole lot of fossil fuels. In this way, we tend to waste more than half of the energy even before using it.We will discuss here about Shaping the future of energy in Europe.
Effects Of Burning Fossil Fuels
Fossil fuels are of four types: coal, petroleum, natural gas, and Orimulsion. The burning of fossil fuels has a number of harmful effects on us and the environment. They release a huge amount of carbon dioxide. This carbon dioxide traps the flow of heat in the atmosphere leading to climatic changes. For instance, sulfur dioxide is produced in large quantities when fossil fuels like coal are burned. It results in the formation of acid rain in due course of time. The burning of fossil fuels also contributes to the creation of greenhouse gases. They have a huge impact on the environment.
Renewable Source Of Energy
We do need the energy to survive life, but it is important to ensure that it is obtained in the right way. The best way to do this is by switching to renewable sources of energy. Renewable sources of energy refer to those energies that are naturally obtained from nature. Examples of such energies are solar energy, wind energy, geothermal projects, hydroelectric power supply, and so on. By keeping in view the huge dependence on energy in Europe, efforts are made to shift to natural and renewable energy. By doing so, both human beings and the environment can be protected in the long run.
Reducing On Non-Renewable Sources Of Energy?
Although we are well aware of the benefits of using renewable energy, we are unable to use it to the fullest. For instance, the sun is the prime source of energy on earth, yet, we cannot find ways to incorporate this energy for different purposes. So, the need to look for different ways of generating energy is the need of the hour. There must be a shift from fossil fuel towards local resources for this purpose. One way to do this is to go for a decentralized power supply. By this power can be transported from urban areas to the rural ones that have scarcity. At a local level, if energy is abundant in one household, it can be sold to nearby households as well. It minimizes the wastage of energy.
Despite a whole lot of challenges, steps are being taken by the authorities of Europe to produce clean energy. Different households, companies, national and regional authorities are in the process of making smart grids, solar, and wind power. Investment in such activities will surely contribute towards shaping a better future in terms of energy all over Europe. Hence, Europe is on its way towards the production of clean, smart, and renewable energy.
